konnichiwa

Explanation:
There is no exact equivalent Japanese
expression for "hello'. You'll have to use "good morning","good afternoon" or
"good evening", depending on the time of day.
The Japanese equivalents for these are:

good morning: ohaayoh ozaaimasu;written:おはようございます

good afternoon: konnichiwa;written:今日は

good evening: kombanwa; written:今晩は

Hope these help.

konnitiwa

Explanation:
It is believed that Konnitiwa(こんにちは)is the equivalence of "hello". We do not use the word as often as English spesking people do.
But if you are on a phone and want to say "hello", you had better not to say "konnitiwa". It might make sense but sounds unusual. So please use "moshimoshi" instead. I think "moshimoshi" itself does not have any meanings but we use it anyway.
I hope it helps you.
