English to Japanese translations [Non-PRO] Science - Photography/Imaging (& Graphic Arts) / ホログラフィー
English term or phrase:holographic multi-imaging
If a photographic plate holding the record of a hologram's interference pattern is shattered, each part of that plate will hold an imprint of the full recording. This is holographic recording which goes against our current understanding of the world
My suggestion would be a) to _resubmit_ this question with a note explaining what you think the author meant and asking for a loose translation based on that meaning or b) contact your client and ask for clarification then proceed from there.
'distributed' because information on every part of the image is stored over every part of the film. A bit like distributed computing (see SETI project) if you take away some computers you still get the same result but it takes longer.
What I would suggest is 'creatively' re-wording the sentence to something that does make sense and then translating _that_. Maybe ...
"This is distributed holographic imaging which goes against our current(/natural) understanding of the world."
It may just be me but the sentence "This is holographic multi-imaging which goes against our current understanding of the world." doesn't make much sense. There is such a thing as a 'multiple image hologram' but that's quite a different thing.
