Explanation:

5.8.5 Soft life. Soft life is an assessed time interval, in hours or cycles, from new or between special repair, of a serviceable “On Condition” unit. A soft life is introduced as part of a RPP (see 5.19). The soft life will not cause a unit removal but on removal for some other reason (eg failure of a different module), units that have reached or exceeded their soft life will be rejected for special repair, at the discretion of the SEA. Soft lives may be included in the LTC Register of Recommended
Lives.
