ポテンショメーター(POT) Explanation: I think you mean "potentiometer" This is a kind of 可変抵抗器 (kahenteikouki). You use it to control volume on a radio for instance. The trimmer potentiometer is also an adjustable resistor, but once set to the right value, it remains at that value. |

トリマー・ポテンショメーター Explanation: I agree completely with mkobayashi's explanation, but as you specifially mention in the "context" the word trimmer, this should probably also be included if you are going to go with an "all katakana" translation.
