tuhada naan ki ae? tuhadi umar kinni ae? Explanation: The last word in each sentence can be spelt as "hai" but is often prnounced as shown here. The second "n" in "nann" is nasal and not pronounced. As for teaching you Punjabi through emails, frankly, I consider it neither feasible nor useful. If desired, I can send you an English book "Teach Yourself Punjabi" published by Publicationa Bureau, Punjabi University, Patiala 147 002. It teaches you speaking reading and writing Punjabi and uses the Gurmukhi script for demonstration. My spare copy is slightly flood damaged but I can send it to you free of cost. There is another book from the same source which teaches writing Punjabi in Gurmukhi script and it teaches you through Urdu. I do not have a spare copy of the latter. If you desire, you can write to the Publication bureau or telephone them at 0091-175-282461-65 and ask for the extension to Publication Bureau. It has a direct telephone connection too, but I do not know its number. There is a series of teach yourself books published in UK and they cover practically all the languages of the world (in fact many other subjects too). Punjabi is one of the languages covered. Perhaps you can get it in your local good book store. Kulwant Madan |
