English term or phrase: Welcome
Hi I'm a primary school teacher from Chelmsford, Essex, England. I am trying to find the word for WELCOME in the following languages. I have the words written in their original 'script' but I would like to be able to read them. Can you give me the literal English translation for welcome for these languages:

Punjabi
Bengali
Urdu
Gujarati
Singhalese
Persian

Many Thanks

Explanation:
some languages have more than one word - not sure how you'd match them to the ones you have in the original script

Persian is listed as Farsi on the site

Many many thanks for your answer. I have been trying to find the word for Welcome in as many languages as possible. The site you gave me gave me has hundreds listed, it is brilliant! Thanks a million, I now have much more than I need. The site also has good morning, good afternoon and many other phrases that I will find useful in the future, I can't thank you enough. I have spent many hours on the web trying to find this information and many more turning it into a display for my school.

Thanks again
