Initial public offering (IPO)
The first offering to the native stock market when a capital increase or change in placement, i.e. stocks of a company are offered to interested investors for purchase for the first time. With an IPO, the stock capital is usually also authorised to go to the stock market and the stock is listed. From the company’s viewpoint, an IPO means obtaining external risk capital by using the stock as a finance instrument
