The welding of the diaphragm to the sensor assembly distorts the grain structure of the thin diaphragm material. Also, the type of welding procedure used will affect the permeation rate. Therefore, the area around the diaphragm weld can be more susceptible to hydrogen permeation. This factor only applies to transmitters where the diaphragm welds are wetted by the process.
