English term or phrase: Apostille
a typeof certificate issued for documents to be used in another jurisdiction
Gosia
po¶wiadczenie (notarialne)
Explanation:
from the web:

An "Apostille" is a simplified process that can be used in place of formal authentications and legalizations for certain countries.
This makes it much easier for businesses to use U.S. contracts and other documents in other countries. Apostilles only need to be notarized and then certified by the Secretary of State in your state.

apostila

Explanation:
It is not exactly a notary certification.
If you need the word for a written translation, you should leave it as it is, i.e.

APOSTILLE
(Convention de la Haye du 5 octobre 1961)

This French version is found in apostilles issued in any country. I have seen and translated such apostilles from at least 20 countries.

poswiadczenie

Explanation:

Apostille is not poswiadczenie "notarialne"!

Explanation:
For the record:

"Apostille = A standard certification provided under the Hague Convention of 1961 for purpose of authenticating documents for use in foreign countries."
(Black's Law Dictionary)

Here is what it looks like (a sample translated in Polish):

[APOSTILLE]

(Convention de La Haye du 5 Octobre 1961)
1. Kraj: HOLANDIA
Niniejszy dokument publiczny
2. został podpisany przez Mr R. Das
3. działającego jako notariusz
4. zawiera odcisk pieczęci Mr R. Das notariusza w Vorden
Poświadczył
5. w Zutphen
6. dnia 15.05.2000 r.
7. sekretarz sądu (arrondissements-rechtbank)
8. Nr 6008
9. Pieczęć: odcisk okrągłej pieczęci z godłem i napisem w otoku: Arrondissements Rechtbank Zutphen
10. Podpis: /-/ Podpis nieczytelny, a następnie: H. Jansen [nieczytelny wyraz] sądu

Hence, the authority actually certifying the notary's PRIOR certification is (at least in this case) the Court.

Sorry, Apostille is not poswiadczenie "notarialne"!
It happens.
