English to Polish translations [PRO]
English term or phrase:Dementia
This is to do with a Alzheimer's Disease. I know that it can be translated as dementia or otepienie (also zespol psychogeniczny) but I am looking for a term which is currently used to describe the condition in Poland.
Explanation: Depends on context
Simply demencja is quite often use. I also heard that they refer to it as simply choroba Alzheimera, it could be also catatonic dementia - in which case that would mean schizofrenia katatoniczna, or epileptic dementia - otepienie padaczkowe,, paralytic dementia - porazenie postepujace, posttraumatic dementia - potepienie pourazowe or terminal dementia - otepienir wtorne or otepienie po psychozie.
You need to decide which one best fits your context. If it just says dementia I would stay with simply demencja or otepienie. Sometimes we try to come up with some morfe elaborate expressions for our translations rather than stay with simple one. Sometimes less is more.
