Explanation:
The problem with electric motors, is that when they start up under load, they can consume quite high amperage - so high that it may cause a lot of damage. Additionally, direct turning the power on causes a mechanical impact that is dangerous too.

There are various methods of starting motors. The most modern and currently used are thyristor starters. If this is your case you could say:
