Perhaps the major environmentally responsive product ini¬tiative has been the electric-gas hybrid automobile mar¬keted under brand names such as the Honda Civic (Figure 3.3) and the Toyota Prius (Figure 3.4). These hybrids run on a ¬combination of gas and electric power, which delivers higher MPG than conventional transport. The Prius has been in such great demand, partially due to rising gas prices and the fact that hybrid autos get much better mileage per gallon than conventional autos, that Toyota has had difficulty filling orders.
