Can you name any animals that have thick, insulating coats? Sheep, reindeer, bison, arctic wolves and foxes, polar bears.
Why do you think these animals have insulating coats? Those that live in cold regions often have thicker coats which provide extra insulation by trapping more pockets of air around their bodies. These extra layers may be shed in warmer seasons.
