O assunto é sobre extrapolação de campo de onda (geofísica) e levantamento de dados de reservatórios de hidrocarbonetos (petróleo).

Pois bem, não consigo entender o que o autor do texto quer dizer com "background". Veja um trecho do texto (já traduzido)

"O modelo de estratos subterrâneos compreende uma estrutura de blocos 70 possuindo uma resistividade de 100 Ohms embutida em um BACKGROUND compreendendo uma camada superior 72 possuindo uma resistividade de 1 Ohm e espessura de aproximadamente 4500m e uma camada inferior semi-infinita 74 possuindo uma resistividade de 1,5 Ohms."

É sempre assim, compreendendo camadas e estratos geológico. Alguma sugestão?
