Concordo com a tradutora que propôs colocar a explicação depois, que é 'guerra santa'. Uma obs: antigamente, ouvia-se 'a jihad' e atualmente ouço 'o jihad', pelo menos nos telejornais da Globo (naõ tenho lembranças de ter visto escrito na imprensa).

Não se pode considerar como uma Guerra Santa, pois o jihad é uma "guerra santa" travada pelos muçulmanos contra todos os que estão contra o Islão.
O mais próximo é realmente a Guerra Santa. O melhor é deixar e pôr uma nota de tradutor com a explicação.
