"...are installed opposed to four catalyst beds with the 2 X 2 configuration. This configuration is commonly referred to as a “merry-go-round” because when the off-line bed is swapped for the guard bed, the guard bed is then put into lead position. The spent lead bed is then taken off-line. Overall, this sequence results in more frequent swaps then the full spare configuration, but lower frequency of regeneration.
