borra Definition from own experience or research: A borra, ou pé, consiste no depósito sedimentário que repousa no fundo do recipiente que contém o vinho. É formado, basicamente, pelos resíduos de fermento e demais materiais orgânicos provenientes da fruta. Os vinhos sur-lie, (sur= sobre; lie = borra) são aqueles vinhos não-filtrados, que são engarrafados direto do recipiente, onde repousaram sobre a borra, para a garrafa, sem qualquer filtração para removê-la. Interessante notar, neste último exemplo, a semelhança fonética entre "lees", o termo em inglês, para "lie", o termo francês para a borra. Example sentence(s):
