English term or phrase: to fall of a banana boat
I am looking for a good Russian idiom to match this expression. So far, the only thing I could think of is "s luny svalilas' " or "vchera rodilas' ". Is it correct? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Julia

Explanation:
«S luny svalilas'» sounds like a very good option. See other possible ways:

s luny svalilas'
upala s oblakov
u neye krysha edet
poekhala
vchera rodilas'

Although this exists as well, I would not venchure to opt for the «chernozh-----». I agree that the word is too offensive, to say the least.

Hope that this helps.

Best regards,

Artyan

vchera s dereva slezla (вчера с дерева слезла); xthyj; chernozhopaya (черножопая)

Explanation:
Hi Julia,

"S duba upal" (с дуба упал) seems alright although it doesn't quite match the original meaning -- "somebody from a third world country". To my mind, "s duba upal" would rather mean "thick", "weird and stupid". If you need a match, maybe something like "vchera s dereva slezla" (вчера с дерева слезла) might be more correct although it's not quite an idiom. My English husband, when speaking Russian, would definitely use "chernozhopaya" (черножопая) in this context although it can be pretty offensive.
