Tough text Explanation: Something appears to grammatically lacking in the first sentence: "The Agency for Mortgage Housing Lending, Russia's FannieMae, we (the Company) will have the capability of becoming a master servicer for mortgage loans acquired by the secondary market facility..." The AGENCY and WE don't seam to be one and the same here. For them to be one entity, the sentence should have began with: AS THE AGENCY..., WE... Otherwise, the sentence structure is just wrong. So I think these are two, subordinated entities. |

The Agency AND the Company Explanation: Judging by the sentence that follows (the second one), I am pretty sure that it was not your understanding that was wrong, but the way the first sentence was written up. It seems that the most logical explanation of the writer's original intention would be that the Agency and the Company are two different legal entities that will work together, and that the first sentence was just a corrupted kind on enumeration with AND ommitted. It's quite a common thing in spoken Russian that, obviously, sometimes sneaks into written English. So, I would read the first sentence as follows: The Agency for Mortgage Housing Lending, Russia's FannieMae, AND we (the Company) will have the capability of becoming a master servicer for mortgage loans acquired by the secondary market facility..." |
