See below. Explanation: Rynok s tendentsiyey na ponizheniye I found, in my MultiLex dictionary the following translations for this common stock exchange term: 1. bear market - рынок, на котором наблюдается тенденция к снижению курсов (акций) 2. bear market — рынок с тенденцией на понижение I would recommend the second term, if the text is more technical. If is targeted at the general Russian-speaking public, I would recommend the first one, because it is more descriptive. To me any option, which uses the word “medved’” or its derivative, sounds unnatural; however, it is in my dictionaries as well. This does exist as a a very specific stock-exchange jargon word. If you decide to use one of such terms (e.g. “rynok medvedey”, as one of the dictionaries suggests), quotes will come very handy. Regards, Artyan Electronic dictionaries |

рынок понижения курсов, рынок, на котором преобладают "медведи" Explanation: exact translation of the term = рынок с понижательной тенденцией, рынок, на котором наблюдается тенденция к снижению курсов (акций) As you known there are two kind of dealers in any market "bears" and "bulls", Bears are "pressing by their forefoots" the course downwards, while bulls are trying to pick up this course by horns upwards. So, in popular context, you might use рынок с преобладанием "медведей" (с тенденцией к снижению курсов). Hope now you got the right answer! Dr. Tagir S.
