Given this level of preparation and an industry eager to provide niche enabling solutions, many players will find it (technically) easy to do hosted IP PBX. Want to add IP endpoint support to an existing Centrex infrastructure? Call AG Communications. Adding a business class hosted IP PBX service to Time/Warner RoadRunner would be more challenging - they'd have to build sales and service organizations, master online provisioning, solve billing and network management issues, etc. But the hard work is now in software and business-process engineering. The "ringing phones" part is already in place on Time/Warner's network. And the "ringing phones as extensions" part is readily solved by a host of off-the-shelf solutions, with more on the way.
