English term or phrase: "bear-claw ulcers"
Coalescence of superficial erosions and ulcers leads to the formation of characteristic linear ulcers ("bear-claw ulcers") surrounded by diffusely inflamed mucosa. With increasing severity of inflammation, the mucosa is involved with extensive ulcerations covered with mucopurulent exudate and displays friability and spontaneous bleeding.
