галька демерара Explanation: gal'ka demerara Since I doubt that the exact Russian term exists (at least, this is the conclusion I came to after I looked for it in my dictionaries and on the web), I think that the best way is to make a georgaphic reference. We are talking about an interior design item, so this way of translating will also render an exotic flavor. |

Demerara is a region in Guyana, also a town (Known in Russia as Georgetown) and a river. this is also a name for rum and sugar, produced, as far as I could understand, from a special sort of tree. Демерарский валун Explanation: I hate to disagree with people, but I cannot see a boulder translated as "галька" (as far as I know it's English equivalent is "pebbles", like the name of Fred Flintstone's daughter). |
