ЗДРАВСТВУЙТЕ Explanation: pronunciation - ZDRAST-vui-tye This is a more formal greeting. "Privyet" is fine if talking to a close friend, but if you need to talk to someone older or with more authority, use the above greeting. How are you? kal de-LA grad student |

Привет! Как дела? Explanation: Indeed, the phrase is too common to be asked via KudoZ... Nevertheless, let us analyze possible version of tranlsation. Здорово, как жизнь? (quite vulgar) Здравствуйте, как поживаете? (polite) Здравствуй, как самочувствие? (frankly) Приветик! Как делишки? (frankly and playfully) Здраствуй, как жизнь? (with a vulgar component). For p h o n e conversations the translation is Алло, как дела? Note that wider context (inded, this question cannot be asked if the asker is registered as a pro:) will certainly bring you the more exact translation. Sincerely yours, Dr. Tagir S. Tagirov, KSU, ProZ.com Moderator. Oxford English Russian Dicntionary Reference: http://www.lingvo.ru |
