First of all, please look carefully at http://www.auctionsmart.com/results/54.html. Lot number 1146, see the image.
Done? So according to Apresyan's Dictionary 'washstand' is 'umyval'nik'. But I have a suspicion that it is not exactly what he says. I am open to your versions what it's called. Good luck!

Russian translation:мраморный умывальный столик в викторианском стиле
Explanation:
В добрые старые времена такой предмет мебели называли "умывальным столиком". На него ставили таз и кувшин с водой для мытья. Это выражение часто встречается в произведениях классиков литературы (не могу привести цитат, поскольку у меня нет под рукой этих книг). Все вместе переводится как "мраморный умывальный столик в викторианском стиле"

Мраморный туалетный столик в викторианском стиле

Explanation:
Just in case you do not like the умывальный столик phrase.
Мраморный туалетный столик в викторианском стиле sounds a bit more Russian.

stolik dlya umyvaniya s mramornoy kryshkoy vremen korolevy Viktorii

Let me cite Webster’s:

washstand

1. a piece of furniture holding a basin, pitcher, etc., for use in washing one's hands and face.
2. a stationary fixture having faucets with running water, for the same purpose.

Judging by the first definition (imagination and experience), it is the lid of the table, which was marble-topped. One could actually move a washstand in the older days, because the water supply system, and the sewage system, were different. Today, the marble can be either real, or immitation.

A web-search will abound in examples of «marble-topped washstand». These are just some of the results:

A George III mahogany washstand, the square top with three circular apertures above a shelf and dummy drawer, on square legs united by an undertier.

The private bath flaunts a whirlpool tub and marble-topped washstand with modern sink insert.
