I am having difficulty with a text that contains the words ‘compatriotic’ and ‘compatriotism’, as I can’t find a reliable translation of either in Slovenian. I can explain compatriotism rather than translate it, but I do need to use ‘compatriotic’ as an adjective for people and an organisation.
Examples in use:
The Compatriotic Study Program will continue in 2011.
The new compatriotic society aims to preserve the past through film.
Her compatriotic stance on the issue has gained her many supporters.
Governments and cultural leaders need to support a growth in compatriotism.

Morda bo treba uporabiti različne izraze glede na kontekste posameznih stavkov. Zdi se mi, da je to tipičen primer, kjer točen pomen besede ni dan sam po sebi, ampak ga oblikuje kontekst. Zdi se mi, da je v navedenih stavkih izraz uporabljan precej "svobodno". Za navedene primere bi predlagal približno takole:

The new compatriotic society aims to preserve the past through film. - "nova družba z domovinskim čutom si prizadeva ..."

Možno je uporabiti tudi izraz "sonarodnjaški", ki poudari, da gre za lojalnost rojakom za razliko od lojalnosti "domovini".
