English to Spanish translations [PRO] Art/Literary
English term or phrase:To suffer and be despised
THIS IS A QUOTE FROM A SAINT. IT APPEARS IN THE BOOK "HIS MOTTO ON HIS LIFE WAS 'TO SUFFER AND BE DESPISED"
Explanation: It is a quote from a saint but the saint didn't mention martyrdom. He is just probably talking about suffering for God's sake. To be a martyr is a kind of ultimate suffering, suffering of last resource. Even if the saint opts for this choice, he's not stating that on this phrase. he's juststating his commitment to live according to God's love/will. The choice of martyrdom comes only as a last resource.
