This is the widely used translation (I'm Irish but living in Spain for many years, and naturally, into all Celtic music). As confirmation see this extract:

El Whistle, también conocido como Flauta Irlandesa, Flageolet, Penny Whistle o Tin Whisle, es un instrumento musical aerófono, perteneciente a la familia de viento madera, que produce sonido por la vibración de una columna de aire, pudiendo alcanzar una altura sonora de dos o más octavas, dependiendo de la calidad del instrumento y la habilidad del interprete.

Su apariencia externa es similar a la de una flauta dulce o de pico, pero mientras estas poseen ocho agujeros, el whistle consta de sólo seis. Para su elaboración se emplean materiales como el metal, la madera e incluso el plástico. Su tamaño varía según la afinación, desde los 23 cm. de uno en clave de Sol, a los 58 cm. de un low whistle en Re.

I think this is the translation I was looking for, I would like to play the tin whistle but couldn't figure out how to buy one if I didn't know the name in Spanish :)
