English term or phrase: pudding cloth
It is a cloth used for cooking, that I can imagine, but I'd like to know what kind of cloth it is, e.g., what it is made of, other uses...
The exact context is in the 19th century, someone is talking about wrapping a child in a pudding cloth and leaving it on the doorstep for someone to adopt it. ¿Can I just say "trapo de cocina?

lienzo para hervir
Explanation:
Estimado Pablofermo:

¡¡Te has ganado 4 puntos!!

trapo de cocina

Explanation:
Hi Pablo!
I've checked several sources but I can't find the specific term "pudding cloth" in Spanish. I remember from childhood that my mother used to make Christmas puddings. She would steam them in a pot which she covered with with a thick cotton cloth...well that was a long time ago:-)

Unless a colleague can come up with a better answer, I think "trapo de cocina" would be fine.

Hope this helps:-)

Explanation:
Pudding cloth is any cloth used to boil pudding (the pudding ingredients are wrapped inside the cloth and boiled this way).
So I think it could be translated as paño para preparar o hervir pudding.
