To my understanding, una parillada is a specific kind of South American barbecue.. "barbacoa" is more of a translation of the American idea of "barbecue".. I don't know to what audience this text is geared and if it s being translated from an American text, but if the American barbecue is the idea which you want to convey, then I would use "barbacoa"
