'reducing risk', if you get my drift) 2. You'll have to translate the 'sense' of 'hedge' within the context of the entire second sentence, given that here 'hedge' means 'speculate' rather than 'cobrir el riesgo' (becuase the implication is that in fact the risk is NOT covered, due to errors in predicting the market conditions).
