Explanation:
An example of "at will" employment, would be a lawn care service where workers are hired, but only work - and are paid - by the job actually done. This way the employer is obligated to provide the work to the laborer IF it exists, but not to pay the laborer for slow times.

Explanation:
El concepto "at-will employment" tiene una connotación muy particular en el derecho norteamericano (que lo tomó del derecho inglés aunque su desarrollo en dichos sistemas jurídicos difirió).

Significa que el empleador puede despedir al empleado sin causa (justificada o no) de la misma manera que el empleado puede renunciar en cualquier momento. (Ello no obsta que se apliquen otras leyes protectoras como las que prohiben la discriminación).

De "Employment Law, Cases and Materials" (Rothstein & Liebman) transcribo lo siguiente: ". . . three aspects of the common lasw "at will" rule: the employer was free to impose any conditions of employment, to discharge an employee at any time for any reason, and to effect the discharge in virtually any manner".

Tom West III en su "E<>S Dictionary of Law and Business" traduce "at-will employee" como empleado a quien se puede despedir sin causa justificada.

La traducción "correcta" dependerá específicamente del contexto y de la oración completa.
