English term or phrase: stove-piped
A text about a company's principles and structure.

"Of course things are bound to change. One key to our success will be our ability to grasp opportunities whenever and wherever they arise. The traditional company structure was ***stove-piped***. Every business worked for its own advancement and there was relatively little cross-fertilisation. We need to change this. Our business, and this applies to automotive and refinish as well, has an increasing number of overlapping opportunities. Let me give you an example. Refinish has traditionally focussed on the bodyshops, but, to continue to grow, we need to look for opportunities outside the bodyshops. In many cases we will find them in areas that have traditionally been “old” industrial territory. If we both want to sell in that sector, we have to judge who is the best to do it. Here, refinish could provide the leads and XXX would follow them up or vice versa."

«STOVEPIPE SYSTEM - An intelligence system characterized by a vertical organization for collecting, processing, analyzing & disseminating a single category of intelligence without integrating other types of intelligence into the final product.»

ad-hoc

Explanation:

ver:
The goal of the Application Architecture is to assist in the rapid implementation and deployment of open computer applications in a rapidly changing computer environment. Many of the Service's software applications are considered to be "stovepiped". The term stovepipe is a metaphor for the exhaust pipes of pot-bellied stoves. Because wood burning produces corrosive substances that erode metal, a stovepipe must be constantly maintained and repaired to avoid leakage. Often, these stovepipes are repaired with any materials at hand; thus wood-burning stoves quickly became a hodgepodge of ad hoc repairs - hence, the term stovepipe is used to describe the ad hoc structure of many software systems. Stovepiped software applications and systems are designed independently at every level, from analysis to implementation.

Independiente

Explanation:
