Office of the Registrar

Spanish-speaking official people like to put the word "general" when speaking of "dirección general" and "secretaría general". I usually do not translate it as it sounds inflated and out of place in English.

When I went to college, the office of the registrar handled course registration. Secretaries handled administrative tasks for professors and other university employees.

Secretariat makes me think of world organizations like the U.N. and UNESCO, etc. When I see Secretary's Office, I want to drop the "Secretary" and just say "Office".

It is important to remember that the term "secretario/a" has a much broader meaning in Spanish than its English cognate.

Also, as Henry Hinds pointed out in a previous Kudos answer, it may mean General Secretary or Clerk, as in "Clerk of Court")..........

Secretariat

Explanation:
"Secretariat" (con mayúscula) se utiliza en Naciones Unidas para la Secretaría General. Quizas sea más apropiado agregarle "General", pero Secretariat va seguro. Suerte!
