English term or phrase: Lewis X (Lex) sugar epitope
This medical article deals with HIV mother-to-child transmission. As a way of introduction, please read the following paragraph:
"The interaction of DC-SIGN with the HIV-1 gp120 surface antigen can result in the efficient presentation of the virus to its target cells and can greatly heighten infection and virus replication"..."An antibody against Lewis X (Lex) sugar epitope, which is common in human milk, prevented the inhibition. And polymeric Lex mimicked the inhibitory activity."

I will appreciate your suggestion as to how to translate into Spanish "Lewis X sugar epitope" Thanks a lot!

Explanation:

Glucose: Glucose: The simple sugar (monosaccharide) that serves as the chief source of energy in the body. Glucose is the principal sugar the body makes. The body makes glucose from proteins, fats and, in largest part, carbohydrates. http://www.medterms.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=3608

These are some examples that can help you:

“Glycoepitope: Lewis X: The carbohydrate determinant having this terminal structure was described in glycolipids and milk oligosaccharides. It was also shown to comprise a part of murine developmental antigen”
“A large number of polyclonal or monoclonal antibodies have been used as very important tools for analyzing expression of various carbohydrate chains and their functions. In this database, useful information on these carbohydrate antigens, i.e. glyco-epitopes, and antibodies has been assembled as a compact encyclopedia.”
http://www.glyco.is.ritsumei.ac.jp/epitope-bin/epitope.cgi?m...

“...it is well known that some monoclonal antibodies produced to tumor cells or mucins preferentially recognize clustered carbohydrate epitopes...”
