En las instrucciones de extracción de un disco duro externo, ante un mensaje de error de Windows acerca de que no se puede extraer el dispositivo, me encuentro con esta causa:

A background task has flagged a file on the drive for use, a condition known as having an ***open file handle***.

Según una explicación que un ingeniero en sistema me dió un "open file handle" es: un descriptor de archivo en el process control block del proceso que lo abrió.

Estoy pensando en traducir el término como "descriptor de archivo abierto", aunque no es eso exactamente lo que dice. He encontrado manipulador y manejador, pero no me gustan, así que acepto cualquier sugerencia de alguien con más experiencia que yo en el tema.
