aparece en un manual para la instalación de un aparato bajo Linux. la siguiente línea sería:
"Open the command line by clicking the Terminal under Accessories."
mi propuesta de traducción sería:
"tenga en cuenta el kernel de la versión de su Linux".
Prefiero mantener "kernel" ya que es un término ámpliamente usado en el mundo de la informática.
la traducción está orientada al mercado español.

Linux distribution, es nada mas lo que conocemos como aplicaciones en sistemas operativos windows, en el sistema operativo linux, son conocidas como distribuciones Linux.
Kernel es el nucleo del sistema operativo.
Creo que se refiere al titulo de como controlar, posiblemente ver la version, actualizar la version de Kernel, porque despues dice que habras la linea de comando y eso es para hacer cosas a bajo nivel (termino de computacion)

En américa el uso parece indistinto y depende de la preferencia que se tenga.
Pero me es muy frecuente encontrar documentación o publicación de medios o comunidades españolas que prefieren "núcleo" en vez de "kernel".
