Explanation:
I would put just that otherwise you would have to put: colegio en el que se imparten los dos o tres primeros años y los tres últimos cursos de la enseñanza secundaria.
But also keep in mind that in different countries it would be different things, but since you´re talking about the US, as far as I know, this would be the best answer.

secundaria - preparatoria; media - media superior

Explanation:

Ahora existe "Middle School", 6,7,8.

Explanation:

"School:
Traditionally, the grades have been divided like this:
Grade School grades K-6 age 5-11
Jr High School grades 7-9 age 12-14
Sr High School grades 10-12 age 15-17

In the '70s, the Middle School became popular:
Grade School grades K-5 age 5-10
Middle School grades 6-8 age 11-13
High School grades 9-12 age 14-17

This system is used in some places:
Grade School grades K-5 age 5-10
Middle School grades 6-7 age 11-12
Jr High School grades 8-9 age 13-14
Sr High School grades 10-12 age 15-17

Basically, Jr High is the first half of the secondary grades"
