Tratándose de estaciones de bombeo, me inclinaría a pensar que el original usa "negative surge" por "hammer effect", en cuyo caso la traducción sería "efecto de martillo de fluído", pero en este proceso he incluido muchas suposiciones no fundamentadas. Todo depende del contexto.
