If the number of candidates securing a simple mayority exceeds the number of positions to be filled, those candidates who obtain the highest number of votes (to the extent of number of positions to be filled) shall be elected.

Si el número de candidatos que aseguren una simple mayoría excede el número de cargos, estos candidatos que obtengan el número más alto de votos (en la medida del número de cargos) serán declarados elegidos.

En ese caso, elegidos (si quieres, puedes prescindir del verbo declarar).

Electos, en el diccionario de la RAE:

Así te evitas tener que distinguir entre "elegidos" y "electos". Yo "electo" sólo lo emplearía en expresiones tipo "cargo electo".

Explanation:
Pues la diferencia entre elegido y electo es, de acuerdo a la RAE, que elegido es "alguien predestinado (elegido por Dios)" y electo es una "persona elegida o nombrada para una dignidad, empleo, etc., mientras no toma posesión" -citas textuales-.
Yo en lo personal prefiero el uso de electo. Suena más natural y comprensible.

neutral  Lectorcito: Elegido es participio de elegir. Si miras elegir en el DRAE, te sale: "2. tr. Nombrar por elección para un cargo o dignidad". Entiendo que la definición que citas es cuando se usa sustantivado. Saludos.
