Es el término que uso generlamente en mis traducciones

"La misión de la de la decantación es eliminar partículas, ya sea por sedimentación o flotación."

Sedimentación y decantación se usan indistintamente, pero me da la idea que se usa más sedimentación, quizá dependa del país. Lo que si te aconsejo es que uses "estanque", es el más acertado.
