Silt Fence Installation Guidelines
 Layout the fence line parallel to contour. Silt fences should be at least three feet from the toe of a slope.
 Dig a trench 12 inches to 24 inches wide and 12 inches deep.
 Bottom of the fence shall be keyed-in a minimum of 12 inches; the bottom 12 inch should be placed in the trench in an “L” shape with a six inch horizontal flap and a six inch vertical rise.
 The last eight feet to 10 feet of the fence should be turned up slope at 45 degrees.
 Stakes shall be spaced at a maximum of eight feet and be positioned on the downslope side of the fence.
