You can change your status in the union from "full member" to "financial core" member. As a "financial core" member, the union is still required to represent you, however you would lose the right to vote in union elections.

¿Còmo se denomina eso en español para los Estados Unidos? ¿Socio adherente, o algo por el estilo, en contraposición al socio activo que tiene derecho a voto?

Es el que paga la cuota pero no tiene responsabilidades ni obligaciones, pero si obtiene los beneficios que implica pertenere al sindicato, club, asociación etc.

Serán SOCIOS PASIVOS aquellos que estando al día en el pago de sus cuotas, no asistan a cuatro reuniones regulares consecutivas. El Socio Pasivo no será tomado en cuenta para la determinación del quórum y tendrá derecho a voz solamente hasta tanto se rehabilite como socio activo.

Es el que paga la cuota pero no tiene responsabilidades ni obligaciones, pero si obtiene los beneficios que implica pertenere al sindicato, club, asociación etc.
