A mi manera de entender, "hang onto" aquí significa "no perder", "conservar". The knack como te han indicado refiere a "habilidad". Podrías decir "truco", pero no me acaba de encajar en el contexto.

El uso de \"ponserse\" o \"ponerte\" dependerá si lo redactas con tratamiento de \"tú\" o de \"usted\".

Existen alternativas, como decir \"no debes olvidar\", \"no tienes que perder\"...

Comento la importantcia de \"hang onto\", puesto que hay dos expresiones que suenan parecidas, pero con distinto significado: \"hang onto\" y \"get the hang of\". La primera significa mantener o retener, mientras que la segunda sería \"pillarle el truco\" a algo. :O) :O)
