Law/Patents - Law (general)
English term or phrase: various legal terms
(in custody proceedings)
"el demandado interpuso las excepciones de falta de derecho, falta de acción, falta de legitimación ad causem activa y pasiva, y la genérica sine actione agit, además de falta de competencia"

Spanish translation:Algunas opciones...
Explanation:
Espero que esto te aporte algo:
Las “excepciones” equivalen a las “motion to dismiss”(“a motion requesting that a complaint be dismissed because it does not state a claim for which the law provides a remedy, or is in some other way legally insufficient. One which is generally interposed before trial to attack the action on the basis of insufficiency of the pleading, of process, venue, joinder, etc”) o “demurrer” (“An allegation of a defendant, which, admitting the matters of fact alleged by complaint…to be true, shows that as they are therein set forth they are insufficient for the plaintiff to proceed upon or to oblige the defendant to answer; y sigue media página de explicaciones…”)-Definiciones del Black’s Law Dictionary
excepción de falta de acción: motion to dismiss based on failure to state a claim upon which relief may be granted (Diccionario de Cabanellas de la Cueva)

Suerte,
Patricia

Here is my best shot.....

Explanation:
"The Defendant raised the defenses (or file the exceptions) of lack of right, lack of action, lack of legitimation, though a cause, either active or passive, and the generic "sine actione agit" (moves without action?), in addition to lack of competency."

Wow... this was a tough one, mainly because I couldn't find the Latin expressions in any of the diccionaries I have. Probably you can leave the Latin expressions as they are.

Good luck. Hope this helps a little.

Saludos. Maria ;o)
