English to Spanish translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Law (general) / Court Procedure
English term or phrase:40 T.O.M.
In a the Activity Log of a Court in Webb County, TEXAS, there appears several times the term 40 TOM (sometimes written 40 T.O.M. or TOM alone). I think it may be a recording system used by the Court, but cannot find an explanation of the term, or what the letters stand for, in order to think of a translation into Spanish or some way to explain it.
-Court date/time: 3/28/2012 09:00 Hearing Type: 40 TOM
-Case called in Chambers, no record. Case reset to 3/28/2012 @9:00 am for T.O.M. HEARING
-*IMG* SENT T.O.M. to Petitioner Mr. xxx via regular mail by placing in the US Postal Box
I concluded that *Trial on the Merits* could be a possibility, since the full phrase appeared as a description of the whole hearing process in several other parts of the document. However, the doubt will remain underlying my mind, since I could not find a proper source to account for it. Thank you very much to everyone who tried to help me.
I found one of the cases listed on the link you provided, please see:

transcript of motion
Explanation: Verónica: En base al tercer ejemplo que das (*IMG* SENT T.O.M. to Petitioner Mr. xxx via regular mail…), ese “TOM” tiene que ser algo físico, que pueda enviarse por correo; por lo tanto, no es posible que sea “trial on merits”.
Creo que “transcript of motion” es una posibilidad en ese contexto.
