English term or phrase: College of Criminal Justice
The text concerns legal apparatus to fight against Mafia in New York. It mentions the College of Criminal Justice several times. Would anyone happen to know what the most accurate rendering of this term would be in Castillian Spanish?

Thanks in advance

Universidad [o, Colegio] de Justicia Penal
Explanation:
Hi Desmond!
Firstly, "Criminal Justice" is NOT "Criminología". This would be "Criminology" which of course is the study of crime and criminals (a branch of sociology).

I believe the "College of Criminal Justice" mentioned in your text refers to the "City University of New York-John Jay College of Criminal Justice". See:
http/www.jjay.cuny.edu/

The Cabanellas/Hoague Law Dictionary gives "Criminal Justice" as "Justicia Penal". To corroborate this, I checked Internet and found the following:

"Ley de Justicia Penal
... 9. LA EJECUCIÓN DE LAS ... es el caso de México. 12 En la sesión de ... Tribunal Superior
de Casación Penal a quien le ... que en materia de justicia penalse ...".

See also:
"Encuentro Internacional de Justicia penal en El Salvador
... se revisará además la situación actual de la justicia penal juvenil en Costa Rica,
Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua y Panamá".

I don't think there is much doubt, at least, as to the translation of "Criminal Justice".

As regards "College"...that's pretty much up to you:-)

Your best options I think would be:
"Universidad", "Colegio" or "Facultad".

Personally, I would choose one of the first 2..but that's just me:-)

Hope this helps you somewhat.

And the winner is...Yes, in effect, it refers to the NY John Jay College. I agree, your rendering is the most accurate in this particular context. Thanks for all the background info. and links.

Explanation:
"Criminología", como tal son estudios universitarios, aunque no estoy segura de qué grado tienen. En todo caso cualquier estudio universitario en España tiene como mínimo el grado de College, así que no tendrás problema. Te adjunto otra referencia.

Espero ser de ayuda y suerte.
