No sé si hay forma de decirlo que suene menos a anglicismo, pero "reverse engineer" aparece como "ingeniería inversa" en casi todas las referencias que encontré.

"...Se llama ingeniería inversa al intento de descubrir el diseño a partir de la máquina, en contraste con la ingeniería tout court que sería el intento de producir la máquina a partir del diseño..."
