Vuelvo a repetir lo de siempre:
Amigos, si no ponéis parte del texto donde se encuentra la palabra o expresión, es muy difícil traducir correctamente.
Eric, me extraña que no sepas traducir esta frase, a no ser que la traducción normal no te parezca la adecuada dentro del contexto.
En un sentido figurado, metafórico, podría significar "no dar una oportunidad a alguien" es decir, "cerrarle la puerta".
"Cuando una puerta se cierra,cien se abren" (fig) = when one door closes another always opens (= no hay que perder la esperanza)
"Cerrar la puerta a " (fig)= to close the door on.
