Por ejemplo, "solicitation" tiene muchos significados (y los dos últimos no son muy glamorosos que digamos y nada tienen que ver con "solicitud": (n.) so·lic·i·ta·tion 1. the act of soliciting. 2. entreaty, urging, or importunity; a petition or request. 3. enticement or allurement. 4. Publicidad y promociones Explanation: "Soliciting" se refiere en este caso a la acción de promover u ofrecer un producto, algo que en la actualidad se realiza principalmente por teléfono en los Estados Unidos. En muchos edificios de departamentos existe el cartel "no soliciting", que quiere decir algo así como "prohibidos los vendedores ambulantes", o sea, los que van de puerta en puerta ofreciendo un producto o pidiendo alguna donación. |
